UNI Sri Lanka Affiliates Women’s Committee Hosts Inspiring International Women’s Day Celebration

In a remarkable display of solidarity and empowerment, the UNI Sri Lanka affiliates Women’s Committee orchestrated a vibrant International Women’s Day celebration on March 8th, 2024, at the Leo Youth Center in Colombo 7. The event, which drew over 100 women from diverse sectors including banking, postal services, healthcare, as well as shop workers and cleaning staff, served as a testament to the strength and resilience of women in the workforce.

UNI Sri Lanka Women Raise Funds in Philadelphia

UNI Sri Lanka Women's Committee spearheaded a remarkable fundraising campaign during the 6th UNI Global Union World Congress, held at the Pennsylvania Convention Centre in Philadelphia, USA.

Over 1200 Women from all over the world participated at the conference, amongst all the Sri Lankan team was the only focused to initiate a fund raising by selling local handicrafts to those participants from other countries.

The campaign began with a strategic meeting of the UNI Sri Lanka Women's Committee to brainstorm ideas for the fundraiser. After careful deliberation, the committee decided to showcase and sell Sri Lankan ornaments handmade by women artisans during the congress in Philadelphia.

"Preparing successful project proposals" Workshop for UNI SLAC Women's group was held on 20-09-2022 at CBEU Headquarters, Colombo 10, from 2.00 pm to 5.00pm with 20 participants from affiliated Unions representing Postal, ICTS & Media and Banking sectors. Delegates from respective unions presented their project proposals describing the Action Plan for next four years if they receive the key positions. Depending on the skills they showed there, the office bearers were selected, as well as the audience and the participants consented.
