The 6th UNI Apro Regional Conference was held in Bangkok, Thailand from the 20th to the 22nd of November, It was an honor to participate in such a significant event that brought together unions and professionals from around the world.
UNI APRO Post & Logistics committee meeting was successfully held at Bangkok Thailand, on 31 Oct -1 Nov 2022. Bro. Anuruddha Bandara Dasanayaka of Sri Lanka Post and Telecommunication Services Union and the Assistant General Secretary of UNI Sri Lanka Affiliates Council was participated the event. He is one of committee member of UNI APRO P & L Committee from South Asia sub region.
A modest reception was held on 4 May 2022, where sixteen UNI APRO-JPGU Kanto Scholarship program recipients received the first disbursement of their well-earned awards. The event was witnessed by officials from the three postal UNI affiliates – the National Post and Telecommunication Workers Union (NPTWU), Sri Lanka Post & Telecom Services Union (SLPTSU) and the Union of Post and Telecommunication Officers (UPTO).
The traditional awards ceremony with the involvement of a JPGU Kanto delegation had to be postponed due to the current uncertain situation in the country and the problematic international travel situation. When the situation improves, the postal unions look forward to holding a full ceremony with the delegation present.
Regional review meeting of “Organising and Institutionalising Social Dialogue and Engaging Social Partners in South Asia” was successfully conducted on 1st and 2nd of November 2022 at Hotel Galadari, Colombo by UNI APRO with the help of FNV Mondiaal.
Sri Lanka post is the pioneer of the communication industry in Sri Lanka. It is one of the oldest and reliable Government Department in the country. Especially Postal Department and its’ employees are always friendly with the people and providing their services to the public. Even during this epidemic period, SL Post is providing services to the people in various ways. They have now taken the responsibility to distribute medicine to people who required it across the country. Department of Post is not charging any fee from the patients/recipients of medicines. This service is totally free of charge.
